Beat the Monday Blues
One thing I am sure of, if not anything else is that the whole world in this fraction of time-space is consumed by Monday morning blues. Who would want to go and glue to the same seat you occupy six days of the week doing the same bleak job you have been doing over years. Of course, we all would have taken up the job with lot of enthusiasm and dreams. But anything that becomes a routine loses its charm over a few days. Same with our jobs even if that is our dream job.
You can categorize me into being very capricious. That itself speaks how wretched I feel every monday morning. For the past few days, I have deviced few alterations in my routine to cheer myself up on Mondays. Here are few tips for people like me-
1. Do not vow to concentrate on your job on Mondays. Mondays are for relaxation. Whatever might be your job, the job will definitely be more hectic on Mondays as it follows a holiday. Yet, complete your job because thats what you are paid for. But, dont hype your interest in your job just because it is a Monday. Start by getting accustomed to the week.
2. Do not schedule any important meeting or discussion on Monday. Let Monday go slow. Let your colleagues and your supporting staff too start the week casually.
3. Do something creative on Monday morning, something which you really love to do- going for a long walk, getting up a little later than usual, watching a half completed movie while having breakfast or anything that you usually do on Sundays. Let some of it spill over to Monday.
4. Schedule a non professional work at office for Monday. For instance, paying online bills, a little online trading, online window shopping, sounds like saying waste some time of your Monday. It is a tiny form of rebel against Monday.
5. Pair your work with listening to music or chatting with friends over whatsapp on a Monday. That will make you tolerate the day well.
6. If you have to cook breakfast, cook an easy dish like dosa, maggie, idli, bread toast on Mondays. It will make your day go easier.
To sum up, waste your Monday and be friends with rest of the days of the week. Once your Monday is over, your week is done. After wearing your *** off doing the same job for years, Mondays have to be told to ***off.
