Though these Dhartarasthras whose minds are clouded by greed, are not able to see the sinister outcome of deceiving our own friends and well wishers, the sin of causing death of so many people, how can we, who know about all these sins, not think of avoiding them?

Once people are killed and families are shattered, the dharmas followed as familial are lost. As a result, women get exploited. Once women are exploited, there will be intermingling of varnas. Once there is intermingling of varnas, no one will do any rites for the pitrus. Once that happens, the whole family will be destroyed and everyone will fall in hell. Hence, this war has so many drawbacks. It causes intermingling of varnas and fall of dynasties. All of us as a result will fall in hell.

See, what a big sin we are about to do. For the greed of the land, we have become ready to kill our own people.

I will give up my weapons and vengeance. Let the Dhartarasthras kill me. At this point, I feel that it is the rightful thing to do.

Arjuna, after having said this, gave up his arms and sat in the chariot.

Abstract:

Despondent Arjuna comes up with a logical explanation to stop the war. He gives a sequential analysis of the worthlessness of war at such a large scale. On seeing his relatives and beloved ones gathered for war, he is already against fighting the war. He claims that all this act will lead to the death of not only his beloved ones, but men in general. Dhartarasthras have mindlessly initiated the war. But being aware of it's consequences,  atleast Pandavas can stop the war. With the death of most of the men in the war, women will become helpless, Once. women become helpless, the surviving men with exploit them. This will lead to intermingling of varnas. Since each varna, has a different set of rules to follow, this intermingling will lead to disruption in the practices. Because of this, many of the rites and donations performed to please the ancestors cannot be done. This will lead to the ancestors to hell. All these are a consequence of war which is fought for the sake of the land. Arjuna feels that when compared to the socio-cultural disruption the war causes, acquiring of a kingdom is meaningless.
